How to use a crimper - Quilling

If you've been quilling for some time now, you have to invest in a crimper. It doesn't have to be an expensive one... all of them work just fine. What a crimper does is it sort of gives a new look to your quilling strips. Like you can see in the simple earrings I made above.

Materials you will need:
Crimping tool
Quilling strips (5mm)
Quilling tool
Clear drying PVA glue

Crimping is really really easy. Place your quilling strip into the gap between the 2 cogs / crimping wheels and rotate the little handle. Keep rotating till the entire strip goes through and comes out the other side.

Once they are done, they will have a tiny zig-zag pattern on them.

Insert one end into the slot of your quilling tool and roll it gently without pulling or stretching the strip or you will destroy all of those lovely little crimps.

This is what you will have once you're done. If you want to shape it into something other than a loose crimped coil, go right ahead. It's what I did. :)
